God Bless America

Retired Naval Petty Officer, 1st Class
Generald Wilson, October 26, 2013

"God Bless America" was written by Irvin Berlin during World War I, but he decided not to use the song at that time. Years later, as the world was headed toward another war, Berlin made some changes to the song and it was presented by Kate Smith on her national radio show on Armistice Day in 1938.

I have included several versions of the song below.

Kate Smith in the 1943 move, This is the Army.
